Customer Review : Well, it approximately worked/needed user made fixes : DELTA JT160 Shopmaster 10 Amp 6-Inch Benchtop Jointer I'm on my second Delta jointer planer. The first planer was delivered with a bent in-feed table. The table was bent one half an inch down at the end of the table and had a large chip in the table top. It looked so bad I just look at it and shook my head in disbelief. I sent it back, then I re-ordered. The second jointer came with two cracked tables plus a dent in the edge of the out-feed table. Both tables had a dip in the center of over 24000 of an inch plus some nicks in the top's. It was useless to me. If you pay your hard earned money for a tool and that tool does not do the job it was intended to do then it's junk and not worth the money you paid. I was undoubtedly wanting this to be a good jointer because it was just the right size for my shop and was not that heavy. I guess you just can't beat Cast Iron. Don't waste you time on this Cheap Delta unit. Everybody that gave this unit a bad article was right. I should of listened.

There are similar and excellent products out there (Excalibur by Sommerville Design, Biesemeyer, Exaktor, Brett Guard; quest google for "Tablesaw Splitters and Blade Covers" for a characterize by Kelly Mehler), but the Uniguard is very good for the price. I have only minor complaints: no integrated dust variety (as in more expensive units), and it took longer to setup and align than I expected. Once installed, the unit offers a world of convenience and safety compared to the splitter and blade guard that came with your saw. For non-thru cuts, you can really remove the splitter without tools, but still have the advantage of the blade guard. However, the big U-shaped tube may get in the way of cross-cutting long pieces of wood. On my Delta undertaker of a package deal Saw with 32" extension table and the Uniguard installed, I am microscopic to about 62" to the right of the blade. A workaround is to loosen then bolts on the big tube and swing it back down and out of the way, but of course you won't have a blade guard (unless you re-install the one that came with your saw, and you won't want to do that). The other workaround is to have the long part of the work to the left of the blade, but then you don't get the advantage of the extension table. As others have reported, the package is rather large and somewhat heavy, partly because of the wood used to crate the unit. Mine arrived in exquisite health but was missing three flat washers for 3/8" bolts. To setup the unit, you'll need some wrenches (socket, adjustable, etc) of the usual sizes, both metric and fractional inch hex keys (Allen wrenches) of assorted sizes including the somewhat unusual 8mm size, and (if using an extension table to the right of the blade) a 9/64" drill (I got by with a 1/8" drill). A quadrate and steel ruler are useful for adjusting the splitter. I recommend you put a towel or rug on the floor when setting the U-tube down, to avoid marring it. another thing I learned the hard way was that while installing the U-tube, which is quite heavy, you have to keep an eye on it until the screws are tightened. While finding down at one of the bolts, the top part of the tube decided to swing down and bonked me pretty good on the forehead. The tube is very heavy, and I was momentarily stunned by the blow, but it served as another reminder to be specific in the shop. The by hand suggests that if you have a 30" Unifence and table extension, you can cut 12" from the large tube. I recommend that you refrain from doing this until you find your saw too bulky with the Uniguard installed. The extra 12" on the tube may come in handy if you want to have a work piece that is more than 52" to the right of the blade. For step 25, I was unable to position the blade guard in a way that the blade cleared both the splitter and the blade guard when the blade is set to 45 degrees. The clarification is given in step 26, which I didn't consideration at first. Overall I'm satisfied with the unit, and believe it will make using my table saw both more safe and more enjoyable. I'll save time over having to remove and reinstall the old blade guard the way I used to, but inspecting the time to setup the Uniguard, payback won't come for awhile. Update: I decided to build an outfeed table for my saw. Most designs expect to use the same holes in the back of the table that are needed to attach the big tube to the saw. As a result, having this blade guard installed seriously complicates attaching an outfeed table. I ended up using a piece of iron plate (hardware store) to join the wooden outfeed table, using the same bolts that hold the big tube. It works great now, but it was difficult to design, build, and install. Update 2: I'd like to get an Incra Ts-Ls fence system, but the screw holes on the back of the saw are required by both the Uniguard and the Incra system. I don't know if it is possible to have both installed on the saw at once - maybe by drilling some new holes?

I have this mounted to a Jet contractors saw and Vega fence. For those not well-known with the Vega fence it is of exceptional ability and has a built in micro adjuster (handy with the Wr700).
Mounted in such a manner I have been using this for about a year and a half. Being a carpenter by occupation I have used it to build about 50 cabinets and varied other projects. The Wr700 has performed flawlessly and without fail.
At first I couldn't understand why it isn't definite to 1/1000" however after using it I came to realize that trying to adjust a fence by hand to the nearest thousandth would be such a pain that I wouldn't wish it upon the vilest urchin. (Tap tap...argh! Tap Tap...argh! and so on). definite Fraction Technology solves this problem and 5/1000" is more than definite enough.
Accurate, repeatable, reliable. It is worth every penny, buy it!

An after-market fence is a fantastic way to ratchet up the performance of a basic table saw, turning it into a precision tool. And this Vega system is easy to install and a pleasure to use, with a very agreeable price for passionate woodworkers and do-it-yourselfers.

The quality and capabilities of this "utility" model match those of the professional version that Vega’s better known for, and though the company markets it for saws that don’t get "extremely heavy use," it’s absolutely rugged enough for the exacting home woodworker. Hands down, the best feature about this first-class fence is the micro adjustment. We’ve all done it: tap, tap, tap on the fence, hoping for just the breadth of a hair’s change in position. Enjoy that? We don’t either. But this Vega has a threaded rod and thumb nut that moves the fence thousandths of an inch in either direction. A full rotation of the nut carries the fence 1/16th of an inch, and the cam locks the position securely.

Another feature we love is the fence bar itself: It’s high, wide and has a channel along its length, perfect for substantial sliding jigs, like, say, a miter spline jig. And while the finish on some of the other parts isn’t as refined as it could be, the fence bar is sweet. It’s made of aircraft quality aluminum alloy extrusions, lightweight for easy handling, but extremely rigid, and we like the way the black anodized finish cuts down on friction. The fence rides beautifully on the rails, and we found lockdown to be rock-solid.

Installation wasn’t nearly as complicated as we had anticipated, and it probably won’t take you more than 30 minutes even if you happen to have one of the saws that requires drilling a couple of holes. But if you’ve got a Delta Unisaw or contractor model, a Powermatic 66 or a 10-inch Craftsman, for example, you’ll be ready to roll without the extra drilling.

All I can say about this fence is Wow! If you have an existing saw that you are reasoning about replacing due to the terrible appropriate fence performance....Don'T. Save yourself $1000 and just buy this fence. I put it on 10 year old Craftsman undertaker of a package deal saw and now I cut "dead on" boards. The micro-adjust eliminates the annoying task of "bumping" the fence back and forth to get the determination crosshair to the desired measurement. You plainly move the fence to within about an inch of where you want it and lock down the smaller of the two handles. Then you spin a micro-adjust wheel to gently move the fence to the exact determination viewed through a clear window with crosshair...and lock down the larger handle. You are ready to go. The fence also stays exactly where you lock iot down, even with a big amount of force pushed against it...very correct machining here. This fence is extremely simple to install and it was perfectly parallel to the blade/miter slot right out of the box. Get this fence and you will never regret it.

The only negative is that you cannot effectively use a featherboard clamped to the fence in the vertical position. Because the far end of the fence only glides on the back rail (it doesn't clamp) any upward force from a board being pushed through, and up against a featherboard, lifts the far end of the fence off the back rail. This is only a minor inconvenience if any at all.
