Works great but way overpriced : Biesemeyer 78-431 T-Square Anti-Kickback Snap-In Spreader For Delta Left Tilt Unisaw Table Saw

I purchased this splitter to replace the wonderful piece of equipment that came with my Delta Unisaw. Since the stock splitter has been busy collecting dust behind my bench for the last couple years I thought it would be a good idea to replace it with something that works.

It arrived undamaged from Amazon with all the neccessary parts to complete the install. It is very well made and the quick release mechanism works smoothly.

Installation took about 45 minutes, if you have 3 hands or no bones in your fingers you might be able to install it faster. For some reason I had a heck of a time getting the 2 bolts in place - either my fingers are too fat or I'm stupid but it did seem a little tricky. I would recommend putting in the bottom bolt first as the top one has much more wiggle room and is easier to see while you line things up.

I've been using it for a couple weeks now and have been very happy with how easy it is to use. One - it does a great job as a splitter. Since that's what it is I kind of expected that... Two - it's extremely easy to install and remove as you need to. That little feature means I will keep it close by and actually use this safety device.

I only gave it four stars due to the extreme price. It's well made but definitely not 150.00 worth (180.00 for the one I bought since it's for a LT Unisaw - apparently designing one to work with a LT saw cost Biesemeyer considerably more money). They didn't reply to two emails I sent asking about the price so apparently their customer service isn't all that great either.

As another reviewer stated though - how much does it cost to replace a finger? If you can choke down the price you'll be happy with the product.

Customer Review : The Best Blade Guard Made! : Biesemeyer 78-960 T-Square Table Saw BladeGuard System for 50-Inch and 52-Inch Fences I looked at every overarm blade guard principles for my Unisaw (Excalibur, Delta, etc.) before buying this one. The containers was first rate and everything was in excellent health except the plexiglass blade guard housing which was wholly clouded over. I called Biesemeyer and they immediately shipped me a new housing, telling me it was a known qoute but only occurred intermittently. (They believe it might be a chemical reaction with the foam packaging, but are not sure yet.) In any event, Biesemeyer has Great buyer service. Installation is pretty much what you would expect ... I dutifully attached the postponement arm to the threaded rod and cranked it in until it was correctly adjusted. I was a limited taken aback by how long it took to move the arm out of the way to cut tenons on tall stock. After using the crank cope a join of times to accompish this task, I decided to remove the treaded rod alltogether and plainly slide the postponement arm into the tube and lock it with the knob provided. It works perfectly. I can remove the assembly in seconds and put it back in the same number of time. I don't admittedly understand why Biesemeyer designed the guard this way, but I'm very happy with it in it's "diminished" form. This is the best blade guard out there. I'm wholly comfortable with it. If you are not using a splitter (I didn't use the splitter that came with the blade guard because I had already installed Biesemeyer's higher-quality version) and a blade guard, you are playing Russian Roulette with your hands. I've had only one kickback in years of woodworking, but I came very, very close to running my hand straight through the blade. (I could feel the wind from the carbide tips...) Buy this now and setup it. You won't be sorry.
